SUMMARY

When A24 and HBO Max tapped us for influencer marketing on The Sympathizer — the adaptation of Viet Thanh Nguyen's Pulitzer-winning novel — it was personal. My parents are Vietnamese refugees who immigrated during the Fall of Saigon.

The novel's core theme is duality: identity, truth, loyalty, war. I built a content concept around it: Vietnamese influencers responding to prompts exploring competing values in their own lives, voiced over slice-of-life footage and paired with animation by a Vietnamese illustrator. The format itself became a duality while centering Vietnamese storytelling like the show does.
